How was Political Correctness Born in America?

freespechhhjhh_k1oetn5

[The following takes place in Hell among a classroom of young demons. The timing occurs directly after a previous blog post was written. The Dean of Demonic Warfare, Wormwood, had just finished giving his presentation on his effects in America.]

After the final PowerPoint slide ended, Dean Wormwood then paused and slowly turned his head to the left. There was a picture of Satan on the wall. It partially covered a medium-sized crack that ran from the floor up to the roof. The young demons watched as Wormwood steadily walked over to the crack and delicately ran his palm over it.

For the entire class period Wormwood spoke with such confidence to the fellow demons, but now his demeanor was different. Wormwood, in a suddenly defeated voice speaks, “the Enemy Jesus somehow has always seemed to be many steps ahead of us. Just look at the Cross and the Resurrection. Never never never forget that the Enemy Jesus has already won. The Enemy creates life where we constantly claim death … But that does not mean we cannot still try.  Class dismissed.”

“WA-WAIT”, Cupid, one of the freshmen demons, hesitantly exclaimed, “I do not understand. You keep saying that you slowly had the Americans to believe in individualism and Universalism. How exactly does that benefit us?”

The freshman demon grew more confident as he spoke – his chest sticking out as if he caught the Dean’s flaw, proving to be the smartest demon in class. The freshman continued, “Last class you spoke on today’s American political correctness and how it ties into individualism. However, would not the Enemy Jesus want those things? Humans enjoy independence and would want to join The Enemy if He seems to accept all things, right?”

Dean Wormwood, still looking at the picture of Satan, does not move in the slightest. It is as if he never heard Cupid’s question. His glare resolute. Wormwood’s eyes glowing as red as the pit of Hell itself. His demeanor switched back from defeat to assurance. An assurance spurred on by the curious freshman demon wanting to learn…but apparently still lacking faith in Father Satan’s plan.

Wormwood finally turns toward the class. He answers:

“Do not be so foolishly narrow-minded, Cupid. Of course individualism itself is not evil. Even political correctness has solid merit. Political correctness has the ability to stop humans from being marginalized or insulted by other humans. The Enemy Jesus enjoys that result when the human’s heart is involved.

All that said, that is NOT our end goal. If we stopped there we’d be defeated for sure. Our end goal is to pervert human thought process as to make it impossible for humans to truly guide one another toward the Enemy Jesus.

At the start of western America…we set in a subtle 300 year long plan of moral and sexual liberty that would destroy the effect of the Gospel. It is a free speech apocalypse. The Bible requires repentance on some level – but a human cannot tell another human to follow the Enemy Jesus without simultaneously calling that person to walk away from something else.

When individualism is coupled with political correctness that “something else” now doesn’t have to be walked away from anymore. Hence, true repentance in order to follow the Enemy Jesus cannot be achieved. Therefore, over time with our successful plan, the humans naturally become anti-repentant. You see, the bloody Gospel is not only a Gospel of repenting from sins that they KNOW are WRONG – it is also repenting from things that they THOUGHT were a VIRTUE

nomomnodadSexual sin is not immoral because it is or isn’t distasteful. Not at all. Sexual sin is immoral because God prohibits it.

You are probably wondering how we did this over the span of 300 years. During the late 1700s the founding fathers of The United States still had the bitter taste in their mouths from how the British used religious authority. Part of the reason of the numerous wars in Europe was because of church denominations (Anglicans, Catholics, Protestants etc). It would make sense for the founding fathers to avoid the Europeans’ ways in not having a single denominational “Church of the United States” at the federal level. Doing so would naturally lead to conflict against states that may have had primarily different denominations. Hence the 1st Amendment of the Constitution.

After that was achieved, it all became a gradual game of words. Semantics. Equivocation. Sure, we demons were not initially happy when humans settled on Christian denominations being neutrally equal in law. It greatly hindered religious wars in America. We demons do love human wars, but we patiently waited for something better.political-correctness-language-thoguht-control

Listen very closely young ones… we got the Americans to start with denominational neutrality. After a little over 100 years, when humans stopped paying attention, that moved to religious neutrality. That eventually shifted to worldview neutrality. Now, it has turned into morality neutrality. So that everything today has reduced to “anything goes”. What the humans meant for good we twisted for evil.

As my demon teacher once told me, ‘It is funny how mortals always picture us as putting things into their minds: in reality our best work is done by keeping things out!’

The American founding fathers were not being malicious in their thought process. Their conscience was doing something good at the time for the betterment of their country. However, we have successfully twisted that thought and slipped it all the way down to subjective morality. Now, Christians must shut up otherwise they are doing something wrong against others. Now, no one has authority or the ability to tell anyone else that they are doing wrong. Emotion controls reason.”

Dean Wormwood quiets as he finally finishes. His massive robe drags the floor as he slowly approaches Cupid. Wormwood pats the top of his head saying, “Your curiosity shows much promise. I have high hopes for you, Cupid. Praise be to Satan.”

“Class dismissed.”

Wormwood Letters: Death of The Next Christian Age

The group of young demons all raced through the door and into the room just in time to be considered early for the meeting.  One of the demons, who happened to be quite large in size, jetted over to claim dibs on the chair at the round table which would be closest to the Dean. An argument arose among them at which one of them was the greatest demon.

At that moment, Dean Wormwood walked in the room. Overhearing the argument, Wormwood interrupts, “Whoever is greatest among you will prove it by the work he has accomplished. Those who have ears let them hear.” Wormwood happens to point to the largest of the demons, awarding him the seat for now.

“Arise, for the pledge.” proclaimed Wormwood, without a hint of emotion.

They each arose, chanting in unison:  “Remember remember remember, our main business is to blind the mind of humans. To kept them from seeing the light of the Gospel of the glory of The Enemy Jesus Christ who is the image of his Father and gifts The Spirit. Until the end, Praise be to Satan!”

Everyone sat back down at the table as only Wormwood was left standing. Wormwood stood with a glaring pose as he waited to make sure he had everyone’s attention. He knew that newly graduated demons were of the most inattentive. Their inexperience in the real world could decrease the effectiveness of Hell and Wormwood was going to be sure to flush out all their ignorance before they officially went into the human world.

[Dean Wormwood begins his speech]

“Congratulations on graduating from your studies in demonism. You are about to embark on your own journey. Each of you will be assigned a certain amount of humans to tamper amongst. I am here to tell you of my journey at a young demon because of my great achievements on the mission field. There is great excitement in our realms about the next generation of Christians coming about. That is, those born during the technological and social media age.  The elder demons worked hard to negatively affect Christian thought throughout  history in different ways. We hope that you will as well. It is the human flesh which neglects The Enemy God.  And we can sharpen this effect.

It has always been our goal to skew the definition of fundamental elements within Christianity and, subsequently, hinder the Christian life. I began my mission field with a team of demons in the 1700s. I convinced the humans to call it The Age of Enlightenment. This was one of our greatest victories to date! Sadly, the Enemy Jesus was still able to muster out good things in that time period which benefited His Kingdom. However, our first great victory was that for the first time in history we were able to shift the macro-cultural human focus away from the Enemy God and toward individualism. The structure of entire nations and governments adopted this principle which directly went against that disgusting, ghastly Word. The Bible.

With that heightened inward focus, humans then relied heavily on their own reasoning and rationale. They became stuck in a prison of scientific materialism. Thus, the second victory was the crushing of their sense of imagination. You see, if a young child can believe in the FALSE MYTH of Santa Claus…it becomes easier for an adult to believe in the TRUE MYTH of the Enemy Jesus. We had them believe that wisdom and innocence were contradictory – erasing the childlike faith they needed to get to the Enemy, God the Father.

By the late 1800s, we skewed their meaning of love. It changed to the negative ideal of Unselfishness – that they could only display love for others by going without it themselves. Self-denial, as an end in itself. This took away from their idea of reward and Heaven. Quite contrary to what the Enemy Jesus actually taught. The following generation of the 1900s did not want to be like their stern parents and grandparents, so they became a generation of inclusiveness. All people should feel love. All people should be saved. Hence, Universalism.

As far as this current generation, our victories thus far are in weakening the human view on relationships and depth of worship. The internet was a great instrument for us. It gave us small victories of pornography, which aided in sex trafficking and sexual abuse. Small victories in my opinion, but victories nonetheless. The true victory is in confusing their sense of relationship which crushes their depth of Christian unity and derails their ability to understand how a relationship with the Enemy Jesus truly works. They cannot speak to the Enemy God if they do not know how to communicate with the Enemy God.

The plans for the upcoming generation are deadly to the very identity of the Christian faith. Humans born in the late 1990s ONLY know a life of social media. ONLY know a life of elevated political correctness. In turn … their way of thinking, processing, analyzing, and views on time will be extremely different from each generation before them. We must take advantage of this opportunity that we have been slowly creating.

Our hope is that their cultural norm of understanding particular principals – eternity, Christian accountability, memorization, views of family, sex, and reproof – will weaken.  More than any generation prior, this plan will take away from the Christian identity because the Enemy Jesus uses the pictures and stories of each of those principals in displaying His Truth.

Eventually, Christianity will have a bad connotation to it. And no human, believer or unbeliever, wants to be called bad. Being called weird is ok, but bad is unattractive. The Enemy Jesus wrote the scriptures for reproof. If reproof becomes a bad thing then the scriptures become bad – making the Enemy Jesus bad. A Christian will have to say they are not a Christian, because, otherwise, they are bad. Therefore, that desired Christian identity will fade away in humans. And a human without an identity is forever lost. Little would they realize that the Enemy Jesus did not go into the world to make bad people good. Rather he went into the world to make dead people live.

Wormwood then paused and slowly turned his head to the left. There was a picture of Satan on the wall. It partially covered a medium-sized crack that ran from the floor up to the roof. The young demons watched as Wormwood steadily walked over to the crack and delicately ran his palm over it.

“However,” begin Wormwood in a sudden, defeated voice, “the Enemy Jesus knows our plan and somehow has always seemed to be many steps ahead of us. Just look at the Cross and the Resurrection. Never never never forget that the Enemy Jesus has already won. The Enemy creates life where we constantly claim death … But that does not mean we cannot still try.  Class dismissed.”

Bye-Bye Christianity, Hello Atheism (Satire)

It has begun! I have considered my options and, well, decided that it is time to join the ranks of atheist team. #TeamAtheist. It was imminent since it just seems more practical and also makes me warm inside to believe that I control my fate and not some tyrannical being in the air. Albeit, it is true that I have physically experienced spiritual warfare, seen numerous extraordinary answered prayers, been an eyewitness to an injured foot being miraculously healed, and heard of many other stories that confirm there is a true God…I just really believe that I know more “real” knowledge and will not subject myself to silly myths anymore.

Now I can already sense what you Christians are getting all riled up. Just calm down, you can join me on this adventurous bandwagon of Real Truth. There is room. I’ll do us all a favor and give you point-by- point reasons to why atheism is better than your mythical faith. I will address it as if I am being debated by a Christian with a few of their best reasons that prove Christianity is real, and I’ll combat it with my wit and intelligence. Because even though God is forever in age, I still know a thing or two in my own youth. I have a college degree and the Internet at my disposal.

  • Christian apologists would say: There are 66 books of the Bible, written over a 1500 year span, with 40 different authors (each with wildly different personalities and social statuses, but wrote with exact unity), and 2300 archeological digs (not one refuting the Bible).

-I will answer to you that you are correct. But there is an American scholar who claims to have recently found ancient evidence that proves that Jesus was made up. I’ll admit that he’s probably very biased and, to the contrary, has likely found nothing to negate 2000 years of your historical evidence. However, he gives me hope. #TeamAtheist

  • Christian apologists would say: There are 6000 manuscripts written in the days of Jesus and the early church by random everyday people at the time. We can recreate over 90% of the Bible with those manuscripts alone. There are only 12 ancient manuscripts of Julius Caesar, 10 for Aristotle, and 0 for Socrates. Would you not believe in the latter three either?

-I will answer: Of course I believe Caesar, Socrates, and Aristotle were real people. I’d be foolish to believe otherwise. Still I do not believe Jesus was real. I need more proof.

https://i2.wp.com/atheismresource.com/wp-content/uploads/atheist-baby.jpeg

  • Christian apologists would say: So you believe that we came from literally nothing? A dot? In order to create we need time, space, and matter. All three have to commend to existence at the same instance. None of those three entities can create themselves. They need an outside force to do so. How did they come into existence?

-I do not know. But cosmic evolution is still possible. We just need further technological advances to get there. #Atheist4Life

  • Christian apologists would say: A star explodes in the galaxy about every 30 years. This occurrence is called a “Super-Nova” and can be spotted afterwards. If the earth is millions of years old, why are there less than 300 Super-Novas found in all the galaxies? Should there not be millions of them around, over time, with your atheistic theory?

-Hmm touche, touché.

  • Christian apologists would say: What about the numerous amounts of former intellectually staunch atheists and historians who eventually converted to Christianity during their studies? Do you not think that God wooed them to Himself by allowing them to see truth?

-Ahh, you see those ex-skeptics were weak. C.S. Lewis was weak. I am much more competitive and will not allow myself to fall into the subversive hands of Christianity. I will train myself to have a closed mind and, in turn, eventually work my way up to allow a hardening of my mind to any concept of faith. The wonderful part of that is that as I further train myself, the more biased truth I will psychologically believe. It will get to the point that I will fully believe in any atheistic principal or finding regardless of any evidential merit.

Ok, if you have not guessed it yet, this is all satire. However, I have much more on my chest that has to be released to the atheist community.

I am constantly fearful of you all. This particular blog post is infinitely miniscule to the amount of information out there that points to the validity of scripture and of a triune God. On the other hand, there is also information out there that can lead you to believe the contrary. How else would the “hardening of the heart” be achieved, as in Romans 1:28 and Exodus 9:12. How else would Satan and his powers of darkness put in their two cents to skew the legitimacy of the Gospel, as foretold in Ephesians 6:12 and Revelation 12:9. Be careful intelligent ones. Lawyers, doctors, businesswoman, professors… lest you begin to believe in your own finite abilities. Be careful liberal youth, artists and freethinkers… lest you slip into a culture that deems God as controlling and fake. Our society heightens the beliefs of the 17th century Age of the Enlightenment past its initial purposes. We love ourselves so much that we become territorial animals against anything that will rail against that love for ourselves (i.e. God). Many times I get headaches with the weak arguments brought up by atheists. NONE of which a strong enough to ever stomp Christianity. It takes more faith to believe what you believe.

You can never know it all because mystery is a prerequisite for faith; and without faith it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11. There will never be enough false information created or debates that will eliminate our faith. Christianity is booming in China, Africa, Korea, etc. Do not be deceived by what you may see in your few seconds here on earth, or on your small radii of where you live. There are things at hand of which you cannot see. God’s kingdom will steadily build. Proof of his reality will steadily be seen (Romans 1:20). Luckily for us all, God in his infinitely loving grace is welcoming you and I to join Him. He loved us enough to die – even for those that do not believe. If you have a tingling desire of that invitation, then seek it out. Seek the truth. It is eternally worth it.

Satan vs Toy Story 2

Toy Story came out in 1995 and completely revolutionized my view of movies.  As a kid, that was the first time I had seen a movie with such meaningful depth that still kept me laughing. My parents bought the VHS for my two brothers and I and we wore that tape out. To this very day, I can still feel the chills from the scene where Buzz Lightyear sadly realizes that he is only a toy. I still cringe at the sight of Sid, who is quite analogous of a young Adolf Hitler.  However, at the end of the movie… youthful joy wins. We can ALL admit that after watching that movie we believed our toys could secretly talk. Honestly, a small part of me still believes to this day. Weird.

Cutting back to the story – To the beloved surprise of my brothers and I, in November of 1999 Toy Story 2 was set to come out in theaters. Needless to say, we were beyond ecstatic. At that age we had no idea that there were possibilities of “movie sequels.” The only certainties we Imageknew were that Kel loved orange soda and that Are You Afraid of the Dark was based on true stories. Therefore, with our apparent limited scope, we knew nothing of Toy Story 2 until the day before it came out. My brothers and I ran to our father and told him this once-in-a-lifetime news. Surely he’d be as excited as us. I remember it as if it were yesterday. Our dad was sitting on the old blue sofa reading the newspaper. We jumped onto his lap and interrupted everything to ask if he could take us to the movie theater to see Toy Story 2 the next day. He paused for about 3 seconds……and said yes. A yes!! We asked again to make sure we heard correctly. And again, yes! We freaked out, haha. Freaked out is an understatement. We then went into another room and watched Toy Story 1 for preparation work.

The next morning we were still rampantly on fire, being extra “good boys” that day. As the evening drew near, we approached our newspaper-reading papa again.  We asked him what time we’re leaving…our eyes gleaming of excitement…but what happened next I have never forgotten to this day. He looked at us with the confused look and told us no. Stunned and taken back for a few seconds, we pleadingly asked him again, but his facial expression this time made it very clear that we were not going. To our utter dismay, our father had completely changed his mind. The hurtful feeling in that instant was piercing. It is a funny thing, ya know, how we can remember the most random occurrences from our childhood. For some reason they stick with us. For some reason, I never quite shook that residue one off.

To make one thing clear, my dad was and still is a great father. He has happily done numerous things for us and I love him. However, that particular clip in my life has stuck with me and I can see glimpses of how it has affected my walk with Christ. Many times I will come to God with the feeling of, “Oh, he doesn’t want to be bothered with me. He doesn’t care that much.” It has negatively affected my intimate walk with Christ and at times tremendously hindered my prayer life.

We need to understand that Satan is extremely crafty and sneaky. His craftiness is beyond human ability. Back in 1999, what Satan did in that instant was grab hold of a short clip of my life and he turned it into a fundamental negative way of thought of how I view a father. Something as quick and innocent as my father changing his mind, Satan has used to skew my view of the nature and character of the loving, triune God. Scripture claims that God wants for us to pray to him unceasingly (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2). Therefore, somewhere within His numinous character and nature, He has a will for wanting prayer that it runs contrary to how my earthly dad reacted to us that very day. This is why Satan would find it opportune to make sure that I always remember what my father did. Touche Satan, touché.

This is not the first time in history that this has ever happened. We all seem to still remember the simplest things from our childhood. Things that still affect us to this day – both positive and negative. If we focus, we can trace many of our insecurities and weaknesses today back to a single experience or something said to us in the past. For instance, if I were one of Satan’s demons, it would be ineffective for me to outright tell a girl that she should have image issues and not trust God. But it would be effective to have her stumble upon a revealing Cover Girl commercial at an early age. Then the next day when a boy jokingly picks on her class I would have all her classmates laugh at her… longer than usual. That way, she’ll subconsciously remember that piercing feeling. Not exactly what the boy said…but just how it felt. She will never want to feel that way ever again. The rest is history. Eventually, when she is older she wouldn’t want anything to do with God because, come on, what man would want a girl like her. Do you see all the subtle lies there? That voice would whisper in her ears for years. That is what Satan and the powers of darkness would whisper to her for many years to come.

Luckily we have Truth that combats those lies. Truth that tells me that I have a heavenly Father that wants me to come to him and talk about “Toy Story 2”. We all have a Father who cares. Hebrews 4:13 describes Him as a Father that knows us. Nothing is hidden from Him. He knew that I would like Toy Story 2 before I was born. Because he wired me for it. Isaiah 62:6-7 claims that God is so serious about wanting us to bother him in prayer that he has appointed people to do exactly that. To pester him and keep knocking on his door. He says to GIVE HIM NO REST. This is foreign to me because not only is He saying that I can ask him about Toy Story…but that he also delights in my asking. #MindBlown

We must be watchful of Satan’s schemes. It would be wise to notice what memories that he grabs hold on to in our lives. How blessed are we that we have a Father who thoroughly knows each of us and offers freedom. Who cares about You. His glory and majesty outweighs all things. May we not neglect such a great salvation that is offered to us.

My Latest Fear (A Spiritual Warfare Tale)

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

2 Corinthians 10:3,4  For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

Scripture similar to these two verses have been resonating in my mind over and over for the past week now. The mystery and wonder of spiritual warfare is something that is plainly & naturally spoken of throughout the Bible. I’ve been in Raleigh for two weeks now and currently have a temporary roommate. He’s a real cool guy, just not a believer. We talk about sports, movies, our hometowns, share life stories, etc. A few minutes into meeting him, I called him a hippie and said he should propose to his girlfriend. His face kinda turned red, haha. It was enjoyable.

Image

For the past week I have been wrestling with why I have yet to talk to him about Jesus Christ. I’ve been to 3 different churches and 2 different small groups, but have yet to invite him to either. The fear overcomes me every time. It’s so odd. On the other hand, I can talk to him about anything else and even direct the conversation wherever I want it to go and however deep I want it to go, without any fear…..unless it has to do with the God. How the heck is this possible???? Why do I get nervous anytime I speak to an unbeliever??

Now those of you who know me, know that “fear of people” is NOT a part of my make-up. When I was born, I did not get that gene. I’ve said some random, spontaneous, outlandish & nonsensical things to people (i.e people I just meet, family, other Christians, friends, professors, bosses, random elderly people, etc..). Without regret. As a side-note, it is never anything bad or demeaning.

Here’s my point, the root cause of this fear in me  in proclaiming the Gospel truth to my new friend is spiritual warfare. It is not chemicals in my body that have evolved from natural selection, as some atheists would say. Neither is it my insecurity (unless I’m talking to a girl that I believe is terribly cute, but that’s an entirely different type of nervousness).Image In 2 months I may never see him again, so no need for insecurity, right.

In the moments I spend thinking about talking to a certain unbeliever about Jesus, can mentally/emotionally feel a pull within myself that causes me to sometimes give up on the matter. There ARE “rulers and authorities and cosmic powers” not of this world that give me this fear and the Holy Spirit in me is fighting against them. If my flesh were to try to do what the Spirit is actually doing, my flesh would loose the war, in some form or fashion, every time. My roommate knows I’m a Christian. And I’m sure I’ve set a good example for him. And I can speak theology and say “God saves and does his will despite the failures and insecurities of man.” But that would be a cop-out for me right now. To simply put it, I care deeply for the guy already. There is a duty to be done. At the end of the day God has a call on me that is to Himself & for Himself for the building of the body of Christ…which will be for my good, my spiritual growth, and my friend’s eternal joy. Obedience is tough though. But with more and more practice, it becomes easier. It then creates a lifestyle in us that automatically becomes more missional in all that we do. With more obedience comes more freedom.

I’ll end with a personal story I experienced this year.

By far the scariest, most horrific night of my life was one that occurred late last Spring Semester. It was around 12:45am on a Saturday night, the weekend before the new Avengers movie came out. I was in my bed listening to the snippet of a Matt Chandler sermon. My roommates, Ed and Matt, were out of town and my other roommate Jon had just gotten back. My door was closed shut. I turned my lights & laptop off and laid down for bed with my head sideways on my pillow. With only about 30 seconds of trying to sleep, I feel…..I repeat, I feel a hand press down on my face and slowly drag itself towards my ear. I can still vividly remember how his hand was positioned. I intimately felt the texture & pressure of it. It was not a pleasant, angel-like feeling. It was cold and felt dark. This Imageoccurred for about 3 long seconds. The 3 seconds after that, the following thoughts quickly went through my head:

1) What the crap is Matt doing in my room playing around? Wait Matt wouldn’t do this at this time of night. Wait…Matt’s not even here.

2) Ed is out of town….

3) Jon, with his personality, would never do this to me.

4) Wait, my door has been closed and it’s pitch dark still. I heard no one enter my room.

At this point I leaped up and THREW the covers completely off the bed. I pleaded ‘who is it.’  I began yelling ‘what are you doing’ and hoping someone would just answer. I expected a random dude or burglar to attack me so I positioned for a fight. I still couldn’t see anything with it being totally dark. But after 6 long seconds I got no answer and frantically ran out my bedroom door and started banging on Jon’s door. His light was on so I knew he was still awake. But I was frickin’ banging the bolts off of his door and yelling for him to come out. He opened it and he immediately saw something was wrong. I was so out of breath. I told him someone is in my room. Without thinking, he pulls a shotgun out of his room (the dude is from Sumter, SC….nuff said) and we quickly went back to my room.

But deep inside of me I knew I had lied to him. I knew no physical person was in there. It was practically impossible. But I thought if I convinced Jon there was, then hopefully there actually was. Jon and I checked everywhere in my room and called for the guy to come out. I was still bending over out of breath. I can’t remember who admitted it first, but we soon knew it had been a demon. I’d heard many stories about demons but never experienced it, which made me a skeptic. We prayed and prayed and prayed that in Jesus’ name it would leave. I could barely think straight. Everything of our physical world that I’ve always known of became drastically small. It was crumbling down before my eyes within a 3-mintue time frame. I became aware, firsthand, to the realities of the spiritual world. Not just some verses we skip over in the Bible.

Quite frankly, I felt helpless. Sleeping that night was the hardest I’ve ever had it. I felt the weight (mental, physical, emotional) on myself. The only thing that helped was the fact that I kept thinking if the spiritual world were true, then that makes Christ even more true. All things are mine according to scripture because I am on Christ and Christ is of God. And my faith was strengthened and was growing by the second. What the Satan’s buddies intended for bad, God used for good. The demonic-world aspect of spiritual warfare is a very rampant occurrence in places like Africa, China, and many 3rd-world countries where Christianity tires to flourish. It’s not really in America because we have Youtube, iPads, Lindsay Lohan, the prosperity gospel, and football games that can take our focus away from Christ. The devil just loves that; makes his life a breeze.

Even as YOU read this very very true story I just told….of course, there is a part of you that does not want to believe it. If you keen in on that feeling, you’ll realize that that same wrestling feeling you’re having within yourself is just like mine with my roommate. It’s all a wrestle. The powers of darkness do not want you to have faith. Period.

Image

So we’re going to need the Holy Spirit’s power in this or we’ll fall short every time. He does not practice witchcraft. He is God and luckily we’ve got Him (The Spirit) within us. So proclaim the gospel and live it well around nonbelievers. There is no need to be nervous because the war is not between us and people, but with spirits not of this world. The Triune God is contending FOR us. And God wins, as always.

1 Peter 5:8,9  Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
